Indian’s highest paid actor Amitabh Bachchan is now officially the first Bollywood star to have his very own wax figure produced and put on display at Madame Tussauds Bangkok –Southeast Asia’s first location of the world’s best loved wax museum.

The grand launch ceremony of this wax likeness is scheduled for August 23, 2011 at Madame Tussauds Bangkok on the 6th Floor of Siam Discovery Center. It will be presided over by His Excellency Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, the Ambassador of India to Thailand and the Permanent Representative of India to UNESCAP, as well as Prakit Piriyakiat, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communication, Tourism Authority of Thailand.

A famed actor, producer and presenter, Amitabh Bachchan made his name from Bollywood movies in the ‘70s like Anand (1971), Zanjeer (1973) and Deewar (1975). He has, to his credit, three National Film Awards and twelve Filmfare awards. Bachchan had at least one hit movie every year for fifteen consecutive years from 1972 to 1986. His soft, booming voice is most memorable by all. Bachchan has lent his voice to or starred in over 100 Indian movies. In 2007, he starred in his first English-language movie titled The Last Lear. It was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and is now regarded as one of his best performances of all time.

With this lifetime of professional achievements, it is nothing but an honour for Madame Tussauds Bangkok to serve as the permanent home for the wax model of Amitabh Bachchan. His likeness will soon be here to greet visitors and his fans from India and around the globe.
